Introduction

One of the most important aspects of the Coppermist service is to give end users control over their internet experience. This document describes what data we collect and process when you use our services, why we do it, and how you can control what we collect.

We consider data privacy to be a part of our product vision and feature set, and hence we take your data privacy seriously. It is always part of our software architecture, design, implementation and operations. Any type of data we consider for collection is carefully reviewed with regards to why we need it, for how long we need it and if there are any associated risks.

This privacy policy is marked with the date it was last updated, and we encourage you to review this statement periodically. However, if there are significant changes to this document we will notify you through any of the channels you have marked as acceptable.

Why do we collect data?

We want to build the best possible products and services for you, and one important tool is to analyse how the product is being used. This spans from technical aspects such as which browsers our users are using and how long it takes to perform certain tasks, to which features are actually being used and how. In addition we are obviously interested in all types of error data generated if things go wrong, in order to quickly address any issues.

Since we are dealing with money we need to collect data to prevent attacks and frauds. There are also legal and contractual requirements we need to fulfill which require collection and storage of specific data.

We may also use the contact information provided to us to get in touch with you with important information regarding the service, according to your communication preference set out in your account settings.

What data do we collect?

We realise that all users are different, and have different incentives for using the Coppermist service. Hence, we let you decide what data we are allowed to collect. On one end of the scale we will only collect the minimum amount of data as required by law and to enable the daily operations. On the other end of the scale, you may allow us to collect more data, enabling us to display more useful statistics and information and also help the development of the services. When possible the information will be anonymised before it is processed and stored. Check out the settings page on your account for more details.

Payment information such as credit card numbers are managed by our payment partners and never stored on Coppermist’s servers.

How do we collect the data?

Generally, we collect data in three different situation:

  1. When you provide it explicitly to us, for example the information in your user profile.
  2. When you use our products and services, or visit our websites.
  3. When third parties share your information with us, for example when you log in to Coppermist through your Facebook account.

This privacy statement does not cover any third-party websites and services you access while using our products and services.

How do we protect your data?

Coppermist is a Swedish company, with all servers located within the European Union. As such we adhere to the stringent Swedish and European Union laws and legislations regarding data security and privacy. How do we share the data?

As increased privacy is one of the cornerstones of the service, we will not share the data with third parties unless we are required to do so, or if you explicitly allow us to. We may for example share some data:

  • To third parties when integrating with their services, for example when you sign up or sign in via Facebook.
